Applications is due on April 30.

This year is the 10th anniversary of the Rotary Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution. Let celebrate this with submissions to the 2013 programs at eight universities throughout the world. The 2013 Rotary Peace Fellowship application is due April 30th and before you blink an eye, it is upon us.

This is a friendly reminder that we have an awesome opportunity to endorse as many qualified candidates as we have to compete at the world level to be a peace scholar.

Way to go to the Rotary Club of Vancouver Quadra and The Rotary Club of Vancouver for making time to screen and endorse eligible candidates!!!

If you have not done so, you can still participate. Let me know how I can help.

Here are a couple of FYI resources for you:

  1.  A great You Tube "Doing Good: Promoting Peace" featuring an alumna of the Professional Certificate Peace Fellowship program in Thailand where our successful scholar will be going in June.

  2.  A great " Building Peace" video on You Tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jR3_8ZBVqK0The
  3. Former Sudanese child soldier Emmanuel Jal will be a featured speaker at the Rotary World Peace Symposium in Bangkok, Thailand before the 2012 RI Convention in May.

Again Congratulations to the Rotary Club of North Vancouver for endorsing a successful candidate, Saad Karim, our first Professional Certificate recipient. Saad will be visiting home in May before going to Thailand in June.

The 2013 application is due on April 30, 2012. Please continue or begin to participate in this wonderful opportunity.

Please also note that this scholarship does not require any funding from your club or our district.

Most, if not all, information you need are in the application form and the program brochure. Let me know if you have any questions to support your search.

As a reminder, there are 3 levels of interviews

  1. Each club identifies and screens potential candidates. Club submits those endorsed by the club to the district through me by April, 2012.
  2. The district selection committee interviews the candidates endorsed by the club and submits to the Rotary Foundation the district endorsed candidates before July 1, 2012
  3. The Rotary Foundation selection committee reviews applications submitted by all districts and sends notification by the end of the year 2012

Looking forward to your endorsed candidates applications.

Thank you for all you do to support this amazing Rotary program.
