It is that time of year where we are searching out enthusiastic and dedicated Rotarians to apply for the position of District Governor (DG). This time for the year 2021-22. Have a look around your club for someone who might be interested and qualified to serve as District Governor.  Perhaps you are the one! The role of DG is demanding but the rewards are incredibly unique and fulfilling. More information about the role may be found on this role description.

Each year in District 5040, RI Policy requires we choose a Rotarian to serve as District Governor approx. 2.5 years from now (Rotary Year 2021-22). The President of any Club in the District may submit the name of one of its members for consideration by the District Nominating Committee.

Please seriously consider this request. The leadership of our district depends on solid and committed Rotarians. More information is available on the request for nominations.

The Nominating Committee in District 5040 is made up of the District Governor Elect, the District Governor Nominee, the two immediate Past District Governors and one Assistant Governor who is a member of a club in District 5040. This year’s Committee is chaired by Immediate Past District Governor Don Evans.

The Manual of Procedure for Rotary International provides that a District Governor be nominated by his or her Club at a regular meeting. The President shall then file with the chair of the Nominating Committee a resolution naming the candidate and certifying that he or she meets the qualifications for D.G. as stated in the Manual of Procedure for Rotary International.

Nominations for 2021-22 must be submitted on the appropriate Governor Nomination form. Also available from each Club President and Secretary. They should be completed no later than Friday , October 26th, 2018 and should be forwarded to the Chair at don_evans@telus.net . Such nominations shall be accompanied by:
  • the Club resolution naming the candidate and certifying that he or she meets the qualifications for D.G. A sample resolution is available here.
  •  a current photograph of the candidate
  •  a resume setting out both Rotary service and personal background.
Nominees will be interviewed in November and the candidate announced by the end of November.

Questions regarding the nomination process should be addressed to PDG Don Evans at: don_evans@telus.net   or Phone 604 988-3435

Good luck! Please remember that the leadership of the district is decided by you, Rotarians who are members  of  D. 5040.

In Rotary service and fellowship,
PDG Don
