DG Rebecca MacPherson installed as Governor for 2012-2013

Rebecca MacPherson was installed as Governor of District 5040 for 2012-2013 at a ceremony in Quesnel on June 22. The event was attended by Rotarians from Quesnel, Williams Lake and Prince George.  Also present were DGND Ken and Peggy Wilson and PDGs Penny and Chris Offer.

The Installation of DG Rebecca was conducted by PDG Penny Offer. She outlined the training Rebecca has taken over the past two years to prepare for her role as Governor. PDG Penny also summarized the seminars DG Rebecca coordinated to prepare her team of presidents, Assistant Governors and district committee chairs for the new Rotary year.

PDG Penny emphasized that the Governor is the only officer of Rotary International in the district. She summarized the responsibilities of the DG and quoted RI President elect Sakuji Tanaka who has asked Rotarians to commit to a Rotary Year of Peace through Service.

President Tanaka asks Rotarians, “To understand that peace, in all of the ways that we can understand it, is a real goal and a realistic goal for Rotary. Peace is not something that can only be achieved through treaties, by governments, or through heroic struggles. It is something that we can find and that we can achieve, every day and in many simple ways.”

We look forward to a successful year in District 5040 under the leadership of Rebecca.
