Tuesday, November 14 -  An early start gets us to the Rotary Club of Steveston for their breakfast meeting at their special place in the Steveston Hotel.  There is a great turnout of members with the meeting presided over by president Scott Livingstone.  It was great to be able to assist with the induction of new member, Stevo Bursac, who transferred in from Cypress!

The club is very active in both fundraising and projects, and are known for their annual Grapes, Hops and Bites event (on our calendar for May 11, 2018!), as well as their annual Duck Race and Toy Drive.  The club providers strong support to their Interact Club in Steveston, and participates in many projects including dental missions overseas.  The club achieves high visibility in the community through their projects, as well as having a booth at the local Farmers Market each month.

This club is also home to Past District Governor Bob Blacker, the District's Champion for the Write 2 Read project that has seen 14 libraries placed in First Nations communities, with a 15th to come shortly.   This partnership, with Government House in Victoria, is making a significant difference right here in our own area as it brings literacy and increased social opportunities to these communities and their people.
