a time to focus on the important issues of membership recruitment and retention.

All of the research and programs on membership development can be broken down into two words: ASK and INVOLVE. When was the last time you ASKed someone to join you at a Rotary meeting or a club function? Do you know that it takes, on average, three “ASKs” before someone will attend a meeting?  Don’t give up after one or two rejections.

Then INVOLVE the new member immediately. Give them a reason to attend every week by giving them an important job on a committee and assigning an experienced mentor to help them learn the ropes. Have them help at the registration table so they can meet everyone and get to know the other club members. INVOLVE new members in the bigger picture of Rotary International by encouraging their attendance at an upcoming RLI or any other district event. 4 I's For New Members

While I was searching the internet for membership ideas I found the following link.  I really liked what I was reading and when I got to the end I found that it was written by PDG Chris Offer. 20 Simple Ways to Increase Membership

To continue to do the good work we do we not only need new members but we need to keep the members we have.  Members that are active, but not overworked, members that know they are appreciated and are recognized for their good work, interesting weekly meetings and fellowship opportunities are what keep members.  Is this what your club is like?

PDG Hans Doge is our district membership chair. Talk to about more ideas and suggestions or ask him about him, or one of his committee members, visiting your club to discuss membership.
