Over 500 students from Strathcona Elementary School marched through their Vancouver community on June 15, 2022 as the school's first annual Pride Parade led by members of the EarlyAct program, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Vancouver Sunrise.

When it came to choosing a service project members of the newly formed EarlyAct Program chose to support and bring awareness to the LGBTQplus  community. Vancouver Sunrise Rotary President Ed Kwan and member Ron Suzuki were among those who participated.

EarlyAct is a school-wide service club for elementary students from ages 5 to 13. It is sponsored by a local Rotary club in the area in which the school is located. The mission and operation of EarlyAct are closely linked to the ideals of Rotary and provide the foundation and natural succession into Interact, a Rotary program in secondary schools.

Library books selected by Strathcona Elementary's SOGI Team (Sexual Orientation Gender Identification Team),were presented by Vancouver Sunrise Rotary member Ron Suzuki (left) and club President Ed Kwan (centre) so students can read, share, and talk about these books towards an understanding about LGBQTPLUS. Head Librarian Jenn Hong and the SOGI Team will promote and display the new books purchased by Vancouver Sunrise. The plan also includes engaging parents in the conversation and holding classroom story time this Fall.

The Rotary Club of Vancouver Sunrise will also be entering in the July 31st Vancouver Pride Parade.
