Thursday, November 16th - Once again we hit the Sea to Sky Highway, this time to visit the Rotary Club of Squamish. This is the home club of Assistant Governor Liz Scott, as well as our District 5040 Polio Chair Brian Finley.  The club's signature event is the annual Beef BBQ on Loggers Sports weekend - and they serve up hundreds of great beef on a bun each year. (see our August 6 entry!).  They also had a presence with a float in the Canada Day parade!

Brian meets us early in the afternoon and takes us on a tour to see several of the projects of this very active club - we stop by the new Rotary Pavilion which is well used year round by the local community.  We also stop by the Youth Centre and their facility, the Rotary Clock in downtown, and the accessible pool at Brennan Park.  These are just a few of many projects and programs supported by this club, and they have now turned their attention to the creation of a new four bed hospice facility which the community badly needs.  Knowing this club - it will get done!

Today's meeting is an evening one at the Howe Sound Inn, and president Judy McQuinn presides over the meeting.  The club is also very active with youth, and currently involved in both Youth Exchange and Interact at Howe Sound High School. Internationally, a major water project in Kenya has been a focus with great results and the club is now turning to Guatemala and the Fistula project in Kenya for the future.
