Friday, October 13 - The Rotary Club of Lions Gate (North Vancouver) is our visit today and we join them for their lunch meeting at the North Shore Winter Club.   This active club, and a past Club of the Year, continues to make its mark locally, in youth support, and abroad.   Interim President Anne Marie Ferguson chairs the meeting and we have a good interactive session with the members there.

This club is best known for its work with the North Shore Canada Day festivities, including the parade and the event following at Waterfront Park.   This year they held a special Canada 150 event in the evening as well, with great live entertainment and then a clear view to the Canada Place fireworks across the harbour.   Their annual Book Sale, held at Capilano Mall, is nearing and the members have been busy sorting books for this fundraiser event coming soon.   And then it will be time for Operation Red Nose - a North Shore tradition done in partnership with other clubs in the area.

The club is also active in youth work, and is home to the District Youth Exchange chair Sue Godey and the sponsor club for the North Vancouver Rotaract Club.   The club plans to support Shelterbox this year while they work towards some new international projects.
