Welcome to the newest member of the Rotary 5040 family.

DG John Anderson on May 18, 2016 presented the charter to the Rotary Community Corps (RCC) of Burnaby, BC, District 5040.

This is the 4th RCC club in Canada and the first in Western Canada. RCC clubs are not common in Canada and the USA. However, there are more than 7500 clubs in 80 countries.

Congratulations to the Rotary Club of Burnaby and president Azim Raghavjio for sponsoring the RCC club of Burnaby.

A Rotary Community Corps (RCC) is a team of non-Rotarian men and women who are committed to their community’s long-term development and self sufficiency.

An RCC is sponsored by a Rotary club and, like Rotaract and Interact clubs, is one of Rotary’s partners in service. The main principle of the program is to enable RCC members to personally address and solve problems in the area where they work or live.

The charter members of Burnaby RCC are all young professionals. Their hands on service is focused on using their professional skills rather than the more traditional work parties. For example, one member used her professional graphic design skills to develop a poster for a local non-for-profits fundraising campaign. Another member is working with a community group to development a community out reach campaign using his professional project management talents.
