More than 40 Rotaract club members attended a District 5040 seminar at UBC on November 17 to discuss strategies to build bigger, better and bolder clubs.

A very successful District 5040 Rotaract seminar was held on Saturday, November 17 at the Sauder School of Business at UBC. More than 40 Rotaract members attended the full day seminar.
The seminar was organized by District Rotaract representatives Joyce Fan and Michelle Leong with support from District 5040 Rotaract chair Janice Froese.

Presenters were: DG Rebecca MacPherson (Welcoming Notes), PDG Chris Offer (Rotary 101), Katie Dittrich (Rotaract 101), PDG Penny Offer (Membership), Janice Froese (Service Projects), PDG Bob Blacker (Government House – Literacy Project), Rachel Li (Club Officer Training & Transitions), Don Evans (Strategic/Succession Planning), Dekker Fraser and Dalton Ho (Communication), and Cheryl-Dean (Vocational Development).

Also attending were representatives from the provisional Rotaract Club from Quest University in Squamish.

The seminar delegates agreed to focus on a district project to develop a website for making donations to individual Rotary/Rotaract projects.

The successful seminar was very instructive and imaginative in looking at ways to grow and sustain Rotaract clubs and build active partnerships with Rotary clubs. Also discussed were strategies to encourage Rotaract members to transition to Rotary club membership when the time is appropriate for the individual. Inter-club communications was a common theme in discussion groups.

District 5040 will have bigger, better and bolder Rotaract clubs with the leadership and vision established at the seminar.
