The Starfish Pack Backpack Program was created in response to teachers hearing the cry of their students.  Teachers were heartbroken to hear their students were coming to class Monday morning hungry, reporting that they had not eaten over the weekend.

Rotary makes a difference! Last fall representatives from the Rotary Club of Williams Lake Daybreak club met with the principal of Chilcotin Road Elementary today to present the Starfish Pack program to his school..  An agreement was made and the program started as soon as parental agreements could be arranged.

With donations of close to $17, 000.00 since September the Starfish program has grown from 2 school with 6 packs each in September to 10 packs each in November to 12 packs each in December... 24 per packs per weekend.  Which cost the program approximately $10.45 per pack for food per week for nutritious meals.

There was a need in one of the schools for more packs and the donors were there so this Friday we are going to be delivering 12 to one school and 20 packs to the other. Our new school will receive 4 when they are going... making our January 2017 total to 36 packs in Williams Lake for kids in need.

Well done and congratulations to the Rotary Club of Williams Lake Daybreak.  Check out the Williams Lake Starfish Pack web page for the latest information.
