$1,150 in proceeds to End Polio -- converted to $5,750 with matching grants -- came from tickets Rotary sold for the October 23rd Vancouver Giants hockey game at the annual Rotary on Ice event, led by the Tsawwassen and Ladner Rotary Clubs, with Rotoract Clubs and Interact Clubs in Delta and Vancouver, with help from District 5040 Governor Lyn Stroshin. The Boys & Girls Club received tickets worth almost $1,700 purchased by Rotarians and others so that 94 young people could attend the game at no cost. Finally, Rotarians of all ages sold tickets for a 50/50 lottery draw at the game with $2,520 going to Rotary's Rotoract and Interact clubs.

Thanks to the Vancouver Giants Hockey Club, Rotary on Ice was another winner this year at the October 23, 2016 game when Vancouver Giants played the Tri-City Americans at the Club's new venue, the Langley Sports Centre, in Langley, BC.

Led by the Tsawwassen and Ladner Rotary Clubs, with Rotoract Clubs (university students and young professionals) and Interact Clubs (high school students) in Delta and Vancouver, $1,150 in proceeds from tickets Rotary sold for that game will go to the campaign to End Polio. With a double matching grant from the Government of Canada and another from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that converts into a contribution of $5,750 towards the $1.5 billion global campaign still needed to erradicate polio completely.

Another big winner was the Boys & Girls Club which received tickets worth almost $1,700 purchased by Rotarians and others so that 94 young people could attend the game at no cost.
