Dear Fellow Rotarians:

Happy September!  Time sure flies when we are having fun.  Hope you all had a great summer and already gearing up for the rest of the Rotary year.

Thank you to all clubs who have been looking for eligible candidates for the wonderful opportunity of applying for a Rotary Peace Fellowship.  If you haven't already started to make this one of your priorities, for consider doing so for no required financial cost to your club, just you passion.

This is an update and early reminder to start looking for eligible Rotary Peace Fellowship candidates for the program year which starts in 2016 with your endorsed candidates' applications needed by March 2015.

Exciting news:

2014 Rotary Peace Fellow - Successful recipient, Will Plowright with specialty in Child Soldiers, for the Professional Certificate program in Thailand as endorsed by the Rotary Club of Vancouver, just completed his program and will be starting a new position with MSF(Doctor's Without Borders) after training in Berlin and Montreal. His exact schedule is to be determined and if possible to speak at any Rotary club, he will let me know. Fortunately I was able to synchronize schedules and accompany him on 6 club visits before he left for Thailand earlier this year.

2015 Rotary Peace Fellowship - Successful District endorsed Candidate, Sara Eftekhar-zadeh was endorsed by the Rotary Club of Lionsgate, North Vancouver. She has local and international volunteer and work experiences, fluent in 3 languages and passion and ambition focused in maternal and infant health. Her application for the Masters degree program is being reviewed by TRF and results are expected in November

District 5040 Peace Fellowship Committee - I am pleased to announce our first committee of Peace Fellowship champions are Ron Davis(RC of Prince George, Yellowhead), Peter Beynon(RC of Burnaby) and Chris Loat(RC of West Vancouver Sunrise). Thank you Ron, Peter and Chris for stepping up. Please email me if any other clubs have Peace Fellowship champions to join in the committee to spread the word of this amazing Rotary opportunity for more peace in our world, needed now more than ever.

Reminder:

2016 Rotary Peace Fellowship - Application Forms are expected to be available by January 2015. You may use 2015 application forms for eligibility requirements. It's not too early to begin looking for eligible candidates. Aim to complete your club's interviews and submit to me the application(s) of those you endorse by March 31, 2015.
