On Sunday May 12th, the four Rotary Clubs in the Sea to Sky corridor, Squamish, Whistler, Whistler Millennium and Pemberton, presented a cheque for $100,000 to the Squamish Hospice Society,

The funds will be used for a Rotary Room in the new Sea to Sky Community Hospice facilit

The soon to open four-room hospice is located between Hilltop House and Squamish General Hospital. It will offer end of life care in a home-like setting that welcomes family and loved ones.

"The hospice is sorely needed for our three growing and aging communities.  Many or most of us will be glad of a pleasant place to ease out of this life comfortably, be they our loved ones, friends, family or ourselves, that live in the corridor," said Murray Wood, Rotary Area Governor. "Rotary is proud to have played a significant role in making the facility possible."

The group cheque presentation by the four Rotary Clubs was the culmination of significant community-supported fundraising efforts by each local club, including Rotary Club of Squamish -  Duck in a Truck lottery, Rotary Club of Whistler Millennium - Christmas tree sales & Santa projects, Rotary Club of Whistler - Jazz/Blues Night, and Rotary Club of Pemberton - Golf Tournament..

"We're so thankful for the support of all four Rotary Clubs of the Sea to Sky Corridor. Their effort has meant so much to this project," said Mark McKenzie, chair of the Squamish Hospice Society.
