2020 Conference Details

Rotary improves the world's vision.

 
Vision 2020 will leave a positive impact on the world.  Prior to the conference the aim is to collect 2,020 pairs of glasses!  Once collected the glasses will be sent to the Third World Eye Care Society based in the Vancouver area.
 
To bring this vision about the Vision 2020 Conference committee is asking each of the District 5040 Clubs (Rotary, Rotoract and Interact) to collect eyeglasses from their community. Each club has received one or more collection boxes. Please bring the eyeglasses you have collected and stored by your club to the conference, April 24 to 26 in Vancouver,
 
This eyeglasses collection will make a great photo opportunity for all of us to use for communications by all our clubs, but, far more important, it will make so many people in need throughout the Third World lead more productive and fulfilling lives through better sight.
 

 Here are the steps in the process

  1. Distribute the assembled boxes to any local optometrists offices, seniors' residences, community centres or locations willing to collect the single lens glasses (not progressive lens) for the Third World Eyecare Society.
  2. Periodically check in to collect any eyeglasses in the boxes at those locations.
  3. Store the collected eyeglasses in sturdy cardboard boxes or Rubbermaid tubs.
  4. If there is no place to store the eyeglasses, the Third World Eye Care Society will store them until the conference, so please send them to the Conference Chair Tom Smith.
  5. Please bring the eyeglasses you have collected and stored by your club to the conference, April 24 to 26 in Vancouver, or send your final collection to Conference Chair Tom Smith. no later than April 17, 2020.   See address below.
 

Collection Box Full?

Is your collection box already full? If so congratulations! Please store the eyeglasses in sturdy cardboard boxes or Rubbermaid tubs. If there is no place to store the eyeglasses, the Third World Eye Care Society will store them until the conference, so please send them to Conference Chair Tom Smith who will get them to the Society's warehouse:
