Shake your Booty and Dance Like Dave
District Conference Rotary 5040 Rotary District 5040

Inspired by our late District Governor Dave Hamilton – to whom Conference ’21 is dedicated – on the Friday night June 4 we'll celebrate the end of another Rotary week with a virtual dance party.  One thing our District Governor Dave loved to do was dance. He also loved a party and enjoyed seeing everyone having a good time. So let's have some fun for Dave and have a dance contest in his honour.

This party will start on Friday night at 8PM. There will be live music with March Hare covering our favourite dance music from multiple decades. If you would like to dress up (or not), shake your booty (madatory) and win some prizes, I want to hear from you.

To register send a message to garrysshearer@gmail.com  In your email please let us know if your going solo, with a partner or a dance troup.

Instructions for the contest will be sent when the list of contestants is finalized.

Behind the Scenes Producing the Flag Ceremony
This year’s virtual District Conference is going to be like no other while honouring the Rotary traditions of year’s past – such as the opening Flag Ceremony. On Saturday, more than 30 Rotarians gathered to video record a physically-distanced Ceremony – from their cars. Kudos to Rotary volunteer videographer John Charbonneau for braving it out in the back of a moving half-ton!

In memory of Dave Hamilton

From Darcy Long District Governor 2018-2019
March 30,2021

Dear Rotary Family,

It is with profound sadness I share with you the news of the passing of our beloved District Governor Dave Hamilton. Dave lost his battle with Prostate cancer last night (March 29), with Tanya by his side.

There has been such an outpouring of love from all of you, and I have no doubt Dave has felt it and it has helped to comfort him in his final days.

As that same love will help Tanya, and Dave’s family, in the days moving forward as we all grieve with them.

The Rotary Family has lost a true champion, humanitarian, and friend.

Due to the Covid Pandemic restrictions we are unable to meet in person to celebrate Dave at this time.

Rest assured as soon as there is an opportunity to gather, notice will go out for a celebration of life to be held at the Beach Grove Golf Club in Tsawwassen as per Dave’s request.

We will pass on more information as it becomes known to us.

Rest in Peace Dave. Thank you for sharing your dance moves with us.

You were an amazing friend and inspirational leader who will truly be missed.

With very heavy hearts,
Darcy and Doug
