- Active Rotarian for over 35 years and past president of the RC of Stafford, Ontario.
Personal
- Awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal
- Graduated from University of Toronto in Commerce and Finance and Urban Studies.
- Started his career with the Association of Municipalities of Ontario as a research associate
- Worked for the Town of Kincardine for 12 years as Treasurer and then as Clerk-administrator
- Served 30 years as chief administrative officer in Ontario serving in just two municipalities.
- Instructor at Georgian College in Municipal Administration Program and advanced course on Municipal Finance.

His employment experience does not reflect what he talks about which is being a very visible person in his journey to advocacy for mental health and what he has learned from it. Ron was previously the president of the Huron Perth Centre for Families and Children which provided important and needed services for youth at risk.
